|All employees hired at OPH will receive new hire training before they start working in their specific position and ongoing training on a regular basis or as often as needed during their employment.
After an employee has gone through the New Hire Orientation the employee officially becomes a Trainee and is required to go through New Hire Training before s/he can work independently. During the new hire training period each employee will learn all of the essential skills and functions needed to perform his/her job individually through various training techniques. The most common technique will be one-on-one training sessions with the department supervisor or designee.
The trainee will be able to work shifts independently once the new hire training schedule is complete and they demonstrate competence in their job. The training schedule contains a list of the critical skills and functions the new hire will learn in his/her first seven to ten days of working. The trainer will follow the schedule day by day to ensure that all the information is reviewed.
